MFS Insights H1B16 – News, Sustainability and New Normal

For three days exhibitors, customers and above all MUNICHFABRICSTART delivered – the 50th edition of the Munich fabric fair was comeback and kick-off at the same time. A look at our stand illustrates which topics were high on the agenda.

“We’re very happy with the customer traffic at the booth, even though you can tell that teams are coming to Munich with significantly reduced numbers of people.”

Heike Taubeneck

Our sales representative puts it in a nutshell: Despite all the joy of being live again, the focus of visitors at MFS was on efficient and constructive exchange. The list of topics that were burning under the nails in addition to current trends was long: rising energy and raw material prices, transparent, reliable supply chains, digitalization and sustainability, to name just a few.

What can we do as a company to support our customers with these issues?

We had some solutions in our luggage that met with a very good response in the discussions at the stand. On the subject of sustainability, the goal was to produce every item in the current collection with a sustainable approach, without exception. The materials range from recycled polyester yarns to faux leather versions made from grape scraps. For more transparency, we have been working with our begreen portfolio for several seasons, where all options are described in detail, from material composition to available colors and purchase quantities. In the area of raw materials, energy and supply chain reliability, there was much need for discussion. Like our customers and business partners, we face major challenges here that need to be mastered. What gives us some security is our established, international network of distribution and production partners. It gives us the opportunity to react flexibly to changes at short notice in order to maintain production and logistics and to be able to supply our customers promptly and locally.

There were several highlights at our booth on the subject of digitization: Our collection labels were brought to life via a 3D hologram projector and could be closely examined from all sides as animations. Our colleague Oliver Panzner presented our new tool BRN.EXPLORE to the customers, with which product labels can be designed directly on the application in a playful and immediate way. We offer you the new collection, many customer references and the sustainable articles in the begreen portfolio digitally on our trend platform BRN.IMPULSE for viewing and ordering. At the end of the MFS, our team was able to consistently share the general, positive mood of the visitors, as summarized by our colleague Christina zur Nieden:

The exchange with the customers and the colleagues from the field service on a personal level was super, the team at the booth was very harmonious and worked very well together. The social program was also fitting, because in times of predominantly home offices it is simply fun to talk live with colleagues about professional and also private topics over a relaxed dinner.

The next MUNICHFABRICSTART will take place from January 24-26, 2023. We look forward to seeing you there at our booth (again)!
